Polio expected to be light this summer record
New York report by Delos Smith assesses polio trends for 1955. Scientists say recent heavy years created a large reservoir of immune children, making natural conditions the likely cause of the light year rather than the Salk vaccine. Cases rise and fall with circulating viruses and immunity, with vaccine impact still unmeasurable until more children are vaccinated.
