Lieutenant General George EB Stratemeyer, head of US Air Forces in the Far East, defended the F-80 Shooting Star as a tough fighter in Korea. He cited that F-80s accounted for 70 percent of combat sorties and for 55 percent of North Korean vehicle and material losses, while rocket and machine gun fire from F-20s destroyed more tanks and trucks than other air attacks combined.

A joint delegation of Dallas and Fort Worth officials urged the State Highway Department to begin plans for a multi million dollar expressway between the two North Texas cities. State Highway Engineer Dewitt C. Greer said the project is needed now and could start next month if funding existed, but current finances are tight. Planning surveys would be taken up with the three member state highway commission.
