Chambers County Commission approves the Sheriff’s Office Body Worn Camera Project to be funded this year with a total cost of 42857 dollars and county match of 8571 dollars under a Governor’s Criminal Justice Division grant. The county commissioners voted to spend $6,000 on repairs to the Thomas Jefferson Chambers home in Anahuac. The historic 1860s house belonged to newspaper editor Thomas Jefferson Chambers, a Virginian native and Confederate veteran who served as state representative, JOP, city councilman and mayor. The residence was designated a Texas Historic Landmark in 1978.
