City and firefighters negotiate over pay raise and stipulations
Baytown officials and Professional Firefighters Local 1173 have met weekly for months to delay a decision on a 6 percent pay raise while considering stipulations that would affect non civil service city employees. The city offers 6 percent with six firefighters added to the fourth ambulance and flexibility to distribute the raise. Firefighters demand at least 10 percent to match police, and propose the 6 percent with conditions to raise non civil service pay to market.
