Stocks Rally as Banks Beat Estimates on Wall Street
Citigroup and Bank of America posted better than expected second quarter earnings lifting indices in New York. The Dow rose as much as 158 points before finishing up 57.56 at 9177.15, while Nasdaq gained 20.91 to 1754.84 and the S&P 500 rose 5.72 to 1003.86. Pilgrim's Pride Raises Third Quarter Earnings Outlook
Pilgrim's Pride Corp of Pittsburg Texas raised its fiscal third quarter earnings outlook citing stronger fresh chicken markets and improved Mexican operations. The forecast now calls for 40 to 42 cents per share including 24 to 26 cents from class action antitrust gains. excluding gains, outlook is about 16 cents per share.
