Truman urged a public study on trade policy course
Washington July 18 President Truman called on a 12 member Public Advisory Board for Mutual Security to study and recommend a path on trade policy amid conflicts between stimulating exports and restricting imports. The board includes leaders from Vassar College, CIO, ABC, Motion Picture Association, Farm Bureau and other major groups. The presidents urged free nations to grow economies through higher production, broader trade, and tariff reductions to lessen U.S. aid dependence.
