Boy Scouts Headed to National Jamboree in Colorado Springs

Baytown area Scouts from Troop 58 join others traveling by train to Colorado Springs for the National Jamboree July 22 28. More than 5600 Scouts from around the world will stay, camp, and take part in ceremonies sports and exhibits including a wild west rodeo and traveling contingents. Baytown members Rusty Reber Joe Tuck and Douglas Conley are part of the Houston International Troop. The Sam Houston Area Council will send about 700 Scouts and leaders.

Library bond election pitched to Baytown council

Max Mosesman will represent the Library Trustees advising Baytown to call an 850000 bond election to fund a new library at 7 p.m. Thursday in city hall. The five member board, appointed three months ago, aims to replace the Jones and Texas Ave. facility with a 400000 cost plan, offset by the sale of the old library.
