Packers keep Favre as non guaranteed starter in return plan
Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy say they will not grant Brett Favre the release he seeks and remain committed to Aaron Rodgers as the starter. Favre hinted at retirement after a tearful March 6 press conference amid ongoing career uncertainty. In Houston, the Astros agreed to terms with first round pick Jason Castro, Stanford catcher who hit .376 with 14 homers and 73 RBIs in 67 games last season.

Bayou Bowl memories linger for Tate and Huffman pros
Bayou Bowl memories mark a launching point for Drew Tate of Robert E. Lee and Chad Huffman of Fort Bend Elkins as they recall the 2003 game. Tate led a 67-yard drive for a game winning field goal in a 32 29 Texas win. Huffman, who later starred at TCU, recalls bonding during the week, the coaching staff, and a four yard TD plus an interception as memorable moments.
