James Atwell Gentry Jr. a fourth grade student at Highlands Elementary died at 11 45 p m after bulbar polio. Funeral plans set at First Baptist Church Highlands with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery. Survivors include parents James A Gentry Sr and Pauline Zedra Ba. grandparents from Crosby and Canton. Baytown area polio tally rises with 28 total cases and six new since July 1.

Two Killed In Refinery Fire at Texas Company Plant

PORT ARTHUR July 12 Two refinery workers died in a crude still explosion at the Texas Company plant. The victims were John M. Hicks 53 foreman and Henry Vestal 41 both new to work. Firemen controlled the blaze in about 40 minutes. Damages not yet determined but production expected to continue. Smoke rose over the refinery located about 20 blocks from the city edge. A condenser failure showered burning crude oil over the still, according to plant manager Frank Wallace.
