Baytown detectives pursue a long-missing brass bell from Southern Pacific locomotive No. 895 stolen in 1956 from Roseland Park. A California train buff spotted a matching bell on eBay, prompting a potential return to Baytown.
A benefit for the family of three killed in the fatal two vehicle crash on the Fred Hartman Bridge is set for Sunday July 15 at El Antro 12190 Interstate 10. A May 2012 delinquent tax report shows Mont Belvieu collecting over 95 percent of taxes. About 4 percent remain delinquent, with $9,162 unpaid from 2010 two years past due. The presentation, by Perdue Brandon law firm, notes most unpaid taxes come from homeowners and occasional value disputes with businesses. A 2004 GE payment of $30,000, including $9,000 base tax and $20,000 penalties, was not in the May 2012 report.
