Houston 1924 Guidebook Highlights Ice Boxes and Klan
A 1924 Houston guidebook notes icebox use and many ice firms, lists the Ku Klux Klan meeting Thursdays near Capitol and Milam, and mentions the Red Men meeting twice monthly in Rice Hotel Room 336. It praises Hermann Park’s tourist camp, cites 22 streetcar sites, and warns drivers about downtown parking and traffic signals with bells. Wanda Orton, former Sun managing editor, is referenced.
