What the meatfolk discuss at a Texas holiday party
LAKE JACKSON There was a holiday party at the Brazoria County estate of Annette and I J Brown with old friends from Baytown and Sweeny. Attendees split by sex after mingling and dined on barbecue and covered dishes. Discussions included corporal punishment in schools and debates on grocery prices. Robert Dixon dominated the spotlight before the excerpt ends.

Amegy Bank gave Baytown Opportunity Center, now part of Bay Area Rehabilitation Center, a check for 1251.41 from leftover Teachers Excellence Awards proceeds. Mark Alexander says funds will support program expansion, staffing, and tools as the center, which educates disabled adults, grows as a Bay Area division. The May banquet honored 32 teachers with 1000 each in its sixth year.
