Houston officials deposit 66,900 with Harris County to place the county stadium lease in operation and pave the way for selling 22 million in bonds to finance the structure. The Harris County Commissioners Court had tentatively sold bonds to a Chicago syndicate at about 3.391 percent. The stadium site and access roads cost less, and tax backed bonds will not raise county taxes. Houston Sports Association guarantees up to 750,000 annual rental to cover bond retirement through 1972, with a 17,208 premium on 3 million land bonds more than offsetting differences. Delays and a lawsuit over the election slowed the sale.
