Thomas Dornak 41 of Pearland formerly Crosby died July 6 2008 in Travis County. He was a NASA Neutral Buoyancy Lab safety diver and 1985 Crosby High School graduate. Survived by parents Gene and Patsy Dornak siblings and a devoted companion. Rosary July 9 and Funeral Mass July 10 at Sacred Heart Crosby. Entombment Holy Cross Memorial Park El Campo. Navarre Funeral Home overseeing arrangements.

Helms laid to rest in Raleigh funeral service
Vice President Dick Cheney and a bipartisan group of senators joined hundreds at the Hayes Barton Baptist Church to honor former Sen. Jesse Helms a five term Republican who died on the Fourth of July. Helms longtime worshipper and deacon, family sat front as friends recalled the conservative icon. Bertha Weakens to Category 1 Storm in Atlantic
Forecasters report Hurricane Bertha has weakened to a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph and higher gusts. At 5 p.m. EDT the center lay about 620 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and 900 miles southeast of Bermuda as the storm moves northwest toward Bermuda.
