Independence Day festivities fill Baytown park with crowds

Clouds cleared to pleasant evenings as Baytown Independence Day celebrations drew large crowds at Centennial Park. Thursday featured a busy concert ending with Randy Rogers Band at 8 pm while parade marshal Ken Pridgeon and participants, including Lillian Perez and Breelan Angel, led and entertained the crowd. Baytown Man Killed In Early Morning SUV Rollover

Police identify 36 year old Omar Perez of Baytown as the driver killed when his 2001 maroon Ford Explorer rolled over after hitting a curb on Highway 146 feeder road near 4 a.m. The crash ejected the driver and officers note a strong odor of alcohol at the scene awaiting toxicology results.

Resisting Arrest Suspect Arrested After Pepper Spray Attempt

A 32 year old Highlands woman was arrested and charged with resisting arrest after fighting officers and jailers. She at one point tried to take pepper spray from an officer's belt during the incident that began with a report of a vehicle doing doughnuts in a Lee College parking lot.

New AFib Procedure Marked At San Jacinto Hospital

San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown unveils a first procedure for atrial fibrillation in a new electrophysiology capable room. AFib affects about 2.7 million Americans and raises stroke risk fivefold. typical symptoms include breathlessness chest pain and palpitations.
