Navy Accused of Double Dealing on Blimp Base
Rep. F. Edward Hebert charges the Navy with double dealing in acquiring 1743 acres near Houma Louisiana for a blimp base during 1942 43. Hebert alleges a 29 May 1943 Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans meeting let South Coast Corp keep gas rights on 645 acres, contrary to assurances given to other landowners. An Orleans attorney says others knew of the oil rights only later from court records.
