Torres family sues Baytown over in custody death
The Torres family filed a wrongful death suit in 234th District Court alleging negligence by the city of Baytown and Baytown Police Chief Byron Jones, naming Sgt. Rodney Evans and Officers Micah Aldred and Bert Dillon for the January 20 death of 45 year old Luis Torres during a struggle. The Harris County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide, though no indictments were issued and an internal affairs probe found no policy violations. The petition cites collective use of force and asserts Torres was outnumbered and unarmed, seeking truth and accountability.
