McNamara Trip To Viet Could Affect Taxes
Washington AP Defense Secretary Robert S Mc Namara’s trip to Vietnam could shape the year’s tax bill as Johnson weighs a 6 percent surcharge on corporate and personal incomes. Proposed surcharges include 6 percent across the board or 2 percent individuals and 12 percent corporate, with various start dates and retroactivity. Officials expect details from McNamara’s trip to guide policy amid talk of broader tax reform. Estimates place war costs at about $5 billion beyond the current budget, underpinning the push for higher tax revenue.
