The Baytown Beautification Advisory Committee announced its latest round of Business Beautification Awards on Tuesday, recognizing outstanding local storefronts and service firms for curb appeal and community contribution.
The Baytown Sun misreported the starting pay comparison between Barbers Hill and Goose Creek school districts. Goose Creek 2007-08 starting salary is about 1,000 to 2,000 less than Barbers Hill’s 2008-09 start, depending on degree, with a pension plan over 2,000. Goose Creek has not set 2008-09 starting pay yet. Toby York expects raises. Both districts pay over 15,000 above the state minimum.

If they fail this final wave, parents may be summoned to a meeting.
The new 77523 ZIP code took effect Tuesday across Mont Belvieu, Beach City, Cove and Old River-Winfree, prompting questions about line boundaries, jury summons, and insurance rates. Officials and residents say the change fails to align with county lines, leaving confusion despite hopes it would distinguish Chambers County towns from Baytown.
