Beach City Council votes for 1.5% sales tax ballot
Beach City approved an ordinance to add a 1.5 percent general revenue sales tax to the November ballot. If approved, Beach City would implement the tax within city limits with the current 6.75 percent rate, where 6.25 percent goes to the state and 0.5 percent to the Chambers County Health District. The move aims to prevent other taxing jurisdictions from claiming the remaining 0.5 percent and was supported by citizen committee chair Sharon Pantin who noted little opposition.
