Man charged with reckless burning in Washington fire
In Oroville Washington a 66 year old man named Charles Eder Jr was hospitalized after leaping from a bulldozer to extinguish flames as the fire spread across more than 90 acres. A local man Timoth Algaier was cited for reckless burning in the same blaze. Gusty winds aided the spread as crews battled the flames near the Canadian border three miles east of Oroville. The National Interagency Fire Center reported 767 018 acres burned nationwide this summer well below last year s pace.
