Longview TEXAS tavern owner calls Key Isle a real gold mine
In Longview Texas a tavern owner Carl Johnson runs Key Isle, an oasis that draws visitors weekly from across Texas, Oklahoma, and nearby states. Patrons describe it as the nicest place for dancing within hundreds of miles, with Elvis Presley and Lefty Frizzell among past performers. Johnson recalls the venue’s evolution since he took over in 1970, noting heavy crowds, high turnover, and the unique mix of patrons, from cowboys to traveling salesmen, who keep the dance floor busy into the night. The club has hosted stars and enduring locals, with Johnson maintaining a tight operation centered on guest comfort and a steady lineup.
