Fire at Valero refinery in Texas City
A large blaze at the Valero refinery erupted Sunday afternoon with no major injuries. The main fire was extinguished by 4 15 p m after starting around 2 20 p m. A man injured his knee while evacuating. The plant, home to about 500 workers, produces gasoline low sulphur diesel kerosene and jet fuel.

Sewer project bids set for February including pre-bid and bid opening
Council approves advertising for bids on the Baker Road Sanitary Sewer Extension Project with pre bid conference February 9 and bid opening February 16. A March award is anticipated. The plan extends gravity sewer lines south from North Main Street and Baker Road, then east through a 16 foot easement to a Harris County Flood Control ditch, to a lift station and outfall into the east side gravity system. The one year project costs about 1.42 million funded by Municipal Development District and Certificates of Obligation Bonds.

Fundraiser May Aid Search For Missing Matt Hunter
Family friend Tiffany Davis organized donations at Wal-mart locations in Baytown and Crosby raising 170 in cash and gift cards for the search.
