Trustees end lottery option to balance Baytown high schools
Baytown School Board unanimously voted to eliminate the lottery system as a means to achieve racial balance at the district's two high schools. The meeting drew more than 150 residents, many from areas that could be affected by pocket zoning. The board will consider pocket zoning or a revised junior school feeder plan, with six new school buses approved at an estimated 166200 to start the 1985 86 year, delivery in about seven months.
