Crosby volleyball concludes a standout season as Brittany Hoag leads the Lady Cougars to a 24 win district championship and 21-4A MVP honors. The Arkansas State signee, a 6 1 outside hitter, built a program turning era and earned Baytown Sun MVP recognition while embodying team focus over personal glory.
All area MVP Hoag became Crosby’s all time leader in kills with 1355 and season best 430 as the team finally reached playoff success with a five game win over Beaumont Ozen. She later tied a school mark with 33 kills in a five set loss to Katy Seven Lakes, then heads to Arkansas State.
Crosby volleyball coach Stephanie Cone is Baytown Sun Volleyball Coach of the Year for transforming a six member freshman team into a playoff program. The Lady Cougars shared a co district title, set a school win record, and reached the area round before a five game loss to Katy Seven Lakes.
Baytown area standout Shardae Philogene emerged as a top volleyball talent under coach Alicia Salinas. Named Baytown Sun Offensive Player of the Year, she earned first team all district after her junior and senior seasons. Her leadership paired with Kevyn Jackson helped Lee High reach two playoffs. She says her passion for volleyball grew from preseason training and belief from her coach.
Lee High School senior volleyball player Philogene earned All-Area Offensive MVP honors as her growth on and off the court carried Lee into the playoffs. She modeled leadership for teammates, returned from an ankle injury to help in key matches, and weighed college offers including the University of St. Thomas while balancing club play with Southshore in Friendswood.
