Transition to junior school era reshapes Baytown district
In May 1966 Baytown officials announced a sweeping shift from junior high to junior school across Goose Creek ISD. Grades 7-9 move to 6-8, the four year high school expands, and elementary ends at fifth grade. Seven periods replace six, school starts at 8 10, lunch lasts 30 minutes, and a 40 minute activity period appears. Electives add French alongside existing Spanish, with daytime games and district only sports.
