Goose Creek CISD joins Texas districts in a suit challenging the school funding system. The board selects Thompson and Horton to represent plaintiffs for about 26 000 this year with possible continuation costs. GCCISD will not be a named plaintiff. The action argues funding levels are unfair and underfund Texans schools.
Barbers Hill ISD trustees authorized issuing 75.5 million in bonds approved by voters in May 2011. Traditional Tax Exempt Bonds totaled 68.4 million with a 3.32 percent average rate, the lowest since the 1960s, and 7.1 million in Qualified School Construction Bonds. Bonds were rated AAA and Aaa. The unprecedented low rates may prevent tax increases.
