Chambers County Sheriff reports drug trafficking success
A Louisiana man sought since December for transporting drugs through Chambers County and fleeing on foot after a traffic stop remained at large this week. Sheriff Joe LaRive issued a report detailing efforts against drug traffic, noting deputies seized about 180000 dollars in cash in 2010. The suspect, Kendrell Torell Barthelemy, 24, was found with 10 kilograms of suspected powder cocaine in the trunk of a 2006 Buick LeSabre stopped on I-10 after 6 p.m. December 10. He was stopped for a traffic violation and authorities detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana from the vehicle. He became extremely nervous and authorities sought permission to search.
