Teachers May Get Voice In School Planning Policies
A school board committee reported Monday night that policy changes could give teachers a voice in working conditions and planning. It recommends a formal grievance procedure for all staff and formal recognition of Baytown Education Association and Baytown Classroom Teachers Association, plus an Advisory Council for curriculum and building design ideas. It stops short of a full professional consultation agreement, proposing election-based steps only if officers or members seek such an agreement, and prompting the board to draft wording for policy updates. The report references a recent Texas Legislature bill on professional consultation.
