Atteberry Heads Emergency Corps in Wooster
E E Atterberry will lead the Wooster Volunteer Emergency Corps again as chief bishop and president after recent re election. W E Trousdale and W R Powell were named assistant chiefs with F E Whitten and C B Creel joining the board. George Islerting was re elected secretary and B Whitten becomes vice president. The corps, formerly part of Wooster Volunteer Fire Department, now operates as an independent non profit supported by donations. Headquarters are at 6105 Bayway Drive phone 566 7628.

Lake Houston spills over as water rises after melt and rain
Water in Lake Houston is running over the spillway after melting snow and recent rainfall in the San Jacinto River basin. The overflow began Monday for the first time since last April. The Jewel had dropped 15 feet below the 445 foot spillway last October, the lowest since 1960. Tuesday it stood about three inches above the spillway.

Seventeen Area Men Sent To Army Induction Unit
Seventeen men from the 17 Area were sent Wednesday for induction into the armed services with 75 ordered for examination by Selective Service Board No. 63. Inductees include James D. Redle and others from Baytown, La Porte, Highlands, Channelview, Houston, and nearby areas. All were sent to Houston for the Armed Forces Examining Station with likely forward to Fort Polk, Louisiana.
