Dr Julian Spring optometrist and A R Stark Baytown refinery supervisor were named Baytown’s young man and senior citizen of the year 1953 at the Jaycees Awards Banquet held at Riverview Inn. The two honorees are eight years apart in age. Spring joined Baytown life in 1942 after studies in Chicago and Detroit. He currently runs an optometry practice in Baytown and Galena Park and assumed Dr Max Levy’s Baytown office in 1945.

B F Mayo 76 of Mont Belvieu died at St Marys Infirmary Galveston from injuries after a Sunday night collision on Highway 145 near Texas City. Mayo a retired oil field worker and his wife were en route with their son in law and daughter when their car crashed. Mayo initially treated in Galveston and La Marque before transfer.
