Impounded vehicles from the City of Baytown will be auctioned at 8 am Saturday at 1601 W. Main St. Cash buyers must remove vehicles within 43 hours.
A jumble of brief notices features Elise Howell Gary McGow B and Robert Whitson trying out for the se honors in the REL Band with Gary and Rob ert as all state performers. Other items include Cub Scouts watching a train, party plans, invitations, a dancing set up, civic errands, new workplaces, fishing plans, travel, and a hospital admission for Vanna Kay Roberson after an emergency appendectomy.
Robert Brockman of 1705 Colby admitted to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital after a five car collision at the South entrance of the Baytown La Porte Tunnel. Witnesses say two cars trying to pass in a no passing zone caused the wreck. Henry Santana and Jesse Watson were treated and released. Brockman reported in good condition. victims transported by Earthman ambulances.
A major storm moved from New Mexico into Oklahoma bringing fresh snow sleet and rain across Texas. Temperatures dropped near zero in Dalhart and Dumas while Amarillo and Childress reported up to 3 inches of snow. The Weather Bureau warned of hazardous roads and many districts canceled classes as the snow belt shifted toward the east and south.
The city explores causes of stagnant water revenue as customers rise while sales fall. Turner Collie Braden engineers will guide study without full engineering work, checking water pressures and meters to assess possible undermeasured usage and lower line pressures. Independent auditor aid discussed as a potential help.

Perry of the State Highway Commission outline Texas Highway Department accomplishments for 1965 at the annual membership banquet at the Houston Yacht Club. New officers for 1966 will be installed at 7:30 p.m., with Gus Groos as president and other officers including Jerry Hoff, Jim Martin, Knox Asking, and Bill Haiflich. Directors include Bruce Angel, Jay Marks, Harry Cornelius, John Eckhardt, Kenneth Adams, Frank Glass, and R. J. Novosad. Perry will note Texans drove more miles in more vehicles than ever, while the traffic death rate per 100 million miles declined to 4.7 in 1965. The Interstate system’s progress is credited for much of the improvement.
Miami AP report on the Mossler murder trial entering its fifth day with no jury in sight. Sixty jurors examined, Judge Schultz warns lawyers after sharp exchanges. A 21 year old draftee, Thomas King, attempted to speak with Candace Mossler, was detained for vagrancy and public drunkenness. Mossler, 39, and her nephew Melvin Powers, 29, are accused of plotting the killing of her husband Jacques Mossler, a 69 year old Texas banker killed in 1964.
Police in Mone Michigan seek Alberto Sanchez 22 and Caro Nina Montalvo 20 in connection with the death of a 2 year old boy found beaten. Authorities believe the suspects may be in the Lower Rio Grande Valley area.
A four year Galveston Bay pollution study won approval from the Texas Water Pollution Control Board drawing fire from Baytown’s Air and Water Conservation Board chair. He urged action now stating sufficient data exists. The board outlined aims for a federal state and local joint plan with a water resource management program and projected funding of about 1.95 million from federal sources and unknown state share.

A 3:20 p.m. Thursday blaze caused extensive damage to School Trustee Sam Alford’s home at 1501 E Fayle in Baytown. Fire originated from a small gas heater in the utility room, winds spread the fire to the garage and adjoining southwest bedroom. Damages estimated at 5 000 to 6 000 dollars. house items including a gas dryer and freezer were destroyed. Alford, an oil company employee, was away at a course when the fire broke out. his wife and daughter were in Houston.
