Shell-Dredging Fight Spurs Oyster Fry by Red Reel Gun Club

Bayshore Red Reel and Gun Club formed in 1955 to combat shell dredging that threatened oyster beds in Galveston and Trinity Bay. Led by Jack Walker the group helped stop dredging with support from Rep. Bob Eckhardt and the Corps of Engineers. Textbooks To Be Used Here Available For Examination

School district displays samples of state approved textbooks for next school year for public viewing at the Media Center and at each school. Superintendent Johnny Clark says parents may request access at their nearest school and books may be checked out overnight only by parents in rare cases. The district will decide February 28 after the textbook committee meetings to adopt titles across elementary junior and high school courses including language arts math science history and foreign language.

Group Forms Baytown Chapter to Combat Pornography

Citizens Against Pornography CAP is a Baytown chapter formed to confront literature and media depicting perverse sexual activity as normal.
