Youth Injured As Car Turns Over In Accident
Douglas Warren Lee, 19, son of Mr and Mrs A W Lee, is recovering from injuries after his car overturned three times at the intersection of Garth Road and Schilling. Driving a car owned by Leonard Allison, with Madeline West and Charles A West as passengers, Lee was the only seriously injured. He was taken to San Jacinto Memorial hospital in a Paul A Lee ambulance. Patrolmen Frank Yeager and Cleve Dickens said the car was traveling too fast for conditions and struck a slick spot on the pavement before overturning. Lee received a ticket for speeding for conditions.

A large red chow dog believed to be mad was killed by Humane Officer G. E. Athlon in Morrell Park near State and Gresham early Monday after the animal allegedly snapped at him. Man Battles Bear For Girl Life At Tulsa Zoo
A Tulsa zookeeper wrestled a 600 pound Himalayan bear to save his eight year old daughter Priscilla Brown after the animal escaped its cage during feeding. The child received 22 stitches and selenium shots and is expected to recover. Zookeeper C E Brown, 160 pounds, said he moved his daughter away three times as the bear attacked, then tossed her over a fence and leaped to safety. Harold Laughlin and curator Hugh Davis aided in recapturing the bear. The bear had been at the zoo for five years, gifted by L. Groom of Ponca City.

Negro Soldier Charged in Killing Veteran Near Mineral Wells
Police prepared murder charges against a Negro soldier who killed Col. Benjamin J. Laxton, a white veteran from St. Marys, Missouri, and dumped his body in a Brazos River bottom south of Mineral Wells. Sgt. Marvin Rayson led officers to the hidden corpse after an anonymous tip.
