An enthusiastic crowd gathered at Lee College Performing Arts Center on Martin Luther King Jr Day for an event titled How Sweet the Sound. Sponsored by the Black Educational Access Committee BEAC the program uplifted and unified attendees with music poetry and praise dancing led by Della Nobles and Rev C D Wilkins. Susan Moore Fontenot spoke setting a tone of remembrance and inclusion as the event emphasized unity beyond color and race.

Chase Ends Suspect Missing After SUV Crashes Into Goose Creek
Baytown police pursued a stolen black Mercury Mountaineer driven at about 5:45 a.m. Sunday on Market Street. The SUV, reported stolen from an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Garth, veered from the officer and plunged into Goose Creek as the driver fled, with authorities continuing searches on Monday.
