Nostalgia rolls on as Prince's Roller Rink faces closure
Highlands story centers on LaDonya McDow who grew up behind the counter at Prince's Roller Rink. With grandparents James Ray and Alpha Prince, she now must raise thirty thousand dollars in ninety days to keep the rink open. The rink debuted in 1966 and operated from a tent before the current building, erected in 1968, is at risk after Bea Prince died. The family credits the space with decades of community memories.

Baytown emergency official William Vola noted disasters rarely provide warning and Haiti followed suit. Three days later debris blocks roads and many remain without phone or electricity as residents sleep in streets. Numerous areas remain inaccessible around the country. SEE HAITI PAGE 3A.
