Rezoning plans tied to district feeder patterns and high schools

Baytown district rezoning hinges on feeder patterns from five junior schools to Robert E. Lee High Sterling High or a third high school opening in fall 2008. Planned alignments split Baytown and Gentry juniors between a current high school and the third school, with Cedar Bayou to Sterling Horace Mann to Lee Highlands to the third. A grandfather clause may allow some current fifth eighth and 11th graders to remain at their current schools, with transportation undecided. Public feedback via hearings and online submissions will inform the final board decision in spring.
