Mont Belvieu city council reviewed the water distribution system noting four wells two ground sources and three elevated tanks. Consultants highlighted pipe capacity, water flow, and pressure issues especially in the western area during fire events. City managers say new software will help plan upgrades to meet internal criteria and improve distribution.
The Mont Belvieu City Council on Monday approved updated building codes replacing 2015 standards with 2018 versions for building, residential, plumbing, mechanical, property maintenance, fuel gas, energy conservation, swimming pool and spa, and fire codes. The electrical code adopted is the 2020 edition, reflecting standard national and international code updates.
Houston police chief Art Acevedo said a Houston officer suspected of taking part in the January 6 mob at the Capitol is under investigation. The officer, Tam Pham, attended a rally and has been placed on administrative leave ahead of a disciplinary review hearing.
The Goose Creek CISD board extends the COVID Leave Act to March 5, replacing the prior Dec 31 deadline. Benefits coordinator Stephanie Myers says no extra resources are requested. All regular employees are eligible except substitutes or temporary staff, with options to work from home or keep pay without using days.
Margie Grimes and Renea Woodruff presented the next year budget plan to the Goose Creek CISD board. The series opens February 1 from 5 to 6 p.m. with additional workshops on April 1 May 17 and June 7. A public hearing and adoption vote are set for June 21.
