Harris County morgue expands role in property crime work
The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office reports a surge in property crime cases, doubling submissions in 2008. The lab uses DNA from blood, skin cells, cigarette butts, and other traces to aid burglaries and theft investigations, and is staffed in five disciplines. Assault continues as suspect flees through multiple roads
Police say a suspect forced to leap behind a pole to avoid being hit, drove erratically from Massey Tompkins Road to Baker Road then hid in an apartment complex at 305 West Baker.
