NASA releases first 360 degree panorama from Mars rover Spirit

NASA released the first 360 degree color panorama from Mars created from 225 images by a team of about two dozen scientists. The Spirit rover, after landing on January 3, is planned to roll onto the terrain at Gusev Crater later this week, with rollout delayed by planning checks and technical milestones. The mission aims to test the presence of water and past life potential by using the robotic arm to sample rocks and soil and a spectrometer to analyze mineral content near Sleepy Hollow crater and other features.
