Baytown approves street closure amid debate over precedent
The Baytown City Council unanimously approved closing a street after traffic counts showed significant cut-through. District 1 councilman Mercedes Renteria III warned of a potential precedent, while District 4 councilman Don Murray defended the process as per city policy. The plan includes temporary barricades, a dirt-filled barrier system, and an estimated cost of about 2700 dollars. The traffic department will install barricades by early next week, and the meeting will be rebroadcast on Time Warner Channel 16.
