EPA proposes cleanup plan for San Jacinto River Waste Pits
The proposed remedy splits actions between northern and southern impoundments. Northern work costs 87 million with 19 month construction and 13,300 truckloads off site, while southern work costs 9.9 million over seven months removing 50 000 cubic yards of contaminated material. The plan aims to prevent exposure and halt contaminant migration near the San Jacinto River near Pasadena, with funding oversight by settlement between International Paper and McGinnes Industrial Maintenance Corp.
