Wilson Warns Pinch on US Economy Extends to 1953
Washington CPI Defense Mobilizer Charles E. Wilson warned that the civilian economy pinch will persist at least into 1953, six months longer than he had predicted. He said a top level rearmament review could raise production goals for planes and tanks, signaling a longer wartime mobilization despite a mid-1854 tapering date. He urged tighter price and credit controls as Congress appears unlikely to act, and noted the mobilization program is under renewed review by the White House and the National Security Council.
