Washington AP reports NASA released drawings of the Apollo spacecraft showing a three man crew in the nose cone and a modular design with a command section for life support and re entry, plus a separate service section for mid course corrections and power. The plan envisions lunar orbit, return to Earth, and a safe splashdown within this decade.

Louisiana Man Killed in Interstate 10 Crash Near Highlands
A Louisiana man died at the scene and two others were injured when a trailer truck rear ended a pickup on Interstate 10 about 18 miles east of Highlands. Robert Hahn of Echo died on arrival at Gulf Coast Hospital. Roy Broussard of Echo was in fair condition. Exigene Stanley of Chattanooga drove the empty trailer. The drivers were traveling 53 mph and 40 mph respectively. Stanley had been assigned to pick up produce in the Rio Grande Valley. Investigating officer: State Highway Patrolman Royce Wilweg. No charges filed yet pending investigation completion.

Missing plane prompts regional search across Baytown area
A missing red and white Cessna 180 tied to Baytown spurs a broad aerial search. Volunteers from Humble, Trailways, and the Civil Air Patrol join Coast Guard and FAA teams from Lafayette to Houston, inspecting air lanes along five routes. Pilot Murray Rogers and his passenger were aboard when it vanished after an 8:50 p.m. departure from Lafayette. Fire destroys house at 520 West Sterling Street
A fire at 12 15 am Friday tore through a frame house at 520 W Sterling destroying the structure furniture and a new car. Fire Chief Linterman said the blaze started when a resident Ferrell who lived alone dumped ash trays in a waste basket before leaving for work.

Funeral services for Dr. Lawson A Hankins Sr a M4 Baytown physician who died in a traffic crash 15 miles south of Meridian Mississippi will be held at 2 pm Monday at Memorial Baptist Church with Dr A L Jordan officiating. Interment in Forest Park Cemetery Houston under Earthman Funeral Home direction. Survived by wife, son Lawson Hankins Jr, daughter Mrs Carl McKinney Jr and a granddaughter Amecia McKinney. He practiced in Baytown 43 years helped found Goose Creek Medical Society and Baytown Hospital and held leadership roles in area medical societies churches and civic groups.
