Long-serving LC regent to retire after 31 years on board
Lee College Regent Don Coffey will not seek re election in May ending more than three decades of service. Elected April 7 1984 Coffey has chaired the board and led the Lee College Foundation Building Committee overseeing a 40 million bond program the largest in the colleges 80 year history. Coffey cites turning 62 this month and half his life spent as a regent as the reason for stepping away. He recalls being encouraged by Dr Vivian Blevins to pursue law and resign from Exxon in 1987.
