Brack files GOP bid in Chambers County race
Former Chambers County Attorney Charles Brack, once holdover from 1988 to 2000, filed as a Republican to challenge incumbent Cheryl Swope Lieck in the March 9 primaries. Lieck, who beat Brack 2-1 in 2000, called the move surprising but said voters will judge her record. Ted Poe and other Republicans also filed for the newly drawn U.S. Congressional District 2 as Texas redistricting slows through court review.

Changing the site to industrial use would require ADA compliance and be prohibitively expensive, so the structure was razed. The demolisher now holds rights to the limestone, which is no longer available from the quarry.
