No further action would be taken until after that deadline.

Newark dispatch reports Donald Edward Mentor, 22, of Keane New Hampshire confessed to killing Jan David Broderick, a Texas A&M student, near Hempstead Texas. Mentor, arrested after a highway inspector found a car with two women. he said they met in El Paso and argued over buying more beer. A pistol and shells were found in the car, and the two women from Key West were held as witnesses. Extradition to Texas and arraignment on murder charges were pending.

Tax assessor George Bennett announced the rendition period for school tax purposes began Tuesday. The office has been recopling renditions but found no rise in presrenditions versus last year. Woman Sprains Ankle in Two-Car Crash
Mrs. Ernestine Massey of 302 North Seventh suffered a sprained ankle in a two car collision at Second and James Monday. Massey rode with Mrs. Ruth Hazel Sieber of 297 Gresham when their car struck a pickup driven by Daniel Glenn Chapman, 53, of 315 West Defoe. Investigating officers said Chapman stopped at the James Second stop sign but failed to see Sieber's approaching vehicle and pulled out. He was cited for failure to yield right of way, Sieber ticketed for no operator's license.

Grieving old dog joins his master in death
Rex, a loyal companion of Judge d. N. Gourlay for 14 years, mourned his owner’s death and died Monday. The faithful dog refused to leave the judge’s side after the heart attack on December 14, walking in circles, whimpering, then fading away as if asleep. The dog, known as just 2 dog, was a solid black retriever with a white 7 on his chest that grew pale with age.

School Census Opens Here As Holiday Ends For 10000
