Fire Forces Evacuation at Park Place Hospital Port Arthur
A fast spreading fire heavily damaged Park Place Hospital near dawn Saturday but all 63 patients including eight babies were evacuated without injury. The blaze started in a surgery area, spread through a wing and main section of the one story building. Patients were moved to St Marys Hospital or other locations in ambulances, police cars, a city bus, or by staff. Evacuation was orderly with nurses directing the process as patients, some asleep, were moved quickly.
