Absentee Voting On Barbers Hill School Bonds Starts
Absentee voting in a 150000 dollar Barbers Hill School District bond election is now in progress and runs until March 32, four days before the election. Supt W C Underwood said. Residents away on March 18 may cast absentee ballots at Chambers County District Clerk Jintho Wooldridge's office in Anahuac. Ballot day is in the Barbers Hill High School cafeteria. If approved the bond funds will buy land for a new high school and repair repaint and relight current buildings.

Baytown Students Enter Houston Science Fair in March
Fifty six Baytown students will compete at the Greater Houston Science Fair March 15 to 17 at Sam Houston Coliseum Houston. Individual exhibits only. senior division covers biology chemistry physics and math while junior division includes biology science physical earth and math. Twenty four first second and third place winners in each classification plus honorable mentions will be honored with certificates and some grand award winners receive trips to the National Science Fair in Albuquerque New Mexico.

The Senate Banking Committee ordered a second delay on Gov. John Connally’s plan to revamp the state banking board. Sen. Bruce Reagan of Corpus Christi, chairman, said the governor’s office requested the postponement as meetings occur to craft a bill. The panel also considers three loan shark bills and aims for a measure by next Thursday. Reagan said agreement on core parts is near, with loan caps and penalties in focus.
