Surety Bond Reduces City Electrical Code In Baytown
By March the city’s new electrical code will be in effect reducing the surety bond from 10 000 to 2 000. Baytown City Council unanimously approved the version after weeks of study and input from the Electrical Board and contractors. The code adds a 2 500 bond minimum, sets a four apprentice to journeyman ratio, requires experience rules for master electricians, allows reciprocal licensing for certain journeymen, limits traveler’s permits to the next exam, raises fees, and requires contractor vehicles to display two inch lettering on doors with magnetic signs allowed.
